Our Purpose

We believe in our creators, culture and change agents. Our movement is about empowering our members to move further faster in a place of shared values and beliefs.

We believe in people. People are created in the image of God and designed for community. Our heartbeat is to see the church living sent in New Orleans and beyond. We are about empowering a movement of change agents to shape faith and culture.

Our Story

After hurricane Katrina a group of young professional helped rebuild the city. They birthed an organization called Convergence Center for the Arts, the idea of Harbor was created in the space. The goal was to reach our unchurched family and friends. Our founder, James Welch, was called and sent to First Baptist Fort Lauderdale, from that the spirit of convergence, Harbor lives on via the Collective.

Though 13 years of lessons learned we believe we can benefit current and future non profits and church plants propelling and equipping them to succeed

“The vision of Harbor Community Collective is the fulfillment of a dream for our movement. It ties to our mission of leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus. We couldn't be happier with helping and equipping non-profits and church plants with things they need to go further faster."

-James Welch, Lead Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale

We can’t do it alone, but with your help, we’ll continue to bring great programming to church plants that need it.

What is HCC?

The church is designed to be a movement and faith based organizations are purposed to impact the world to be a better place. The collective was created with mobilizing people in mind.

What kind of people are at the collective?

Our members are igniters who believe that to impact our culture we must be bold agents of change. We are the early adaptors, visionaries, and founders. We host church planters to simply equip them to be sent. We want to help be a generation of world changers to fight poverty, care for orphans, minister to widows, and create the culture in our world that ought to be. We are here to equip our partners for real world change.
